The People Care ethic in permaculture
We may have the knowledge, but if we fail to connect with and motivate the people, then we fail to bring about effective action.
1. Meeting Basic Needs – Ensuring access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, and education for all.
2. Community & Cooperation – Building strong, supportive communities that share resources and knowledge.
3. Fairness & Justice – Promoting equity, inclusivity, and respect for all people, including marginalised groups.
4. Personal Well-being – Encouraging physical, emotional, and mental health through self-care and mutual support.
5. Education & Empowerment – Teaching skills for self-reliance, sustainability, and resilience.
6. Cultural Preservation – Honouring and integrating traditional knowledge and diverse cultural practices.
7. Conflict Resolution* – Using non-violent communication and mediation to resolve disputes harmoniously.
People Care recognises that sustainable systems must prioritise human well-being alongside environmental health to create thriving, regenerative societies.
